A graduate of the Polish language and literature studies at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. In the past she was active in theatre and worked at the Teatr Polski theatre in Bydgoszcz. Iga then gave up her theatre passion for arts. Now she has been living in Warsaw for many years. Initially she worked with tapestry. Currently, she constructs spatial objects using recycled materials.

In 1994 her work was displayed for the first time in the gallery of the Polish Cultural Institute in Berlin .

Iwona Maj and Iga Sturlis have been doing projects together since 2005, at first in the Informal Art Group “Ku Wiśle” and then in the group “Święto Kobiet”.

Both of them are engaged in presenting their individual work, as well as organizing cultural and art events for small local communities.

They aspire to integrate the community, develop a strong sense of belonging and identification with the local area. They also encourage the inhabitants to participate in artistic activities and to cross the barriers in art by reversing roles of the artist and the receiver, so that the artist can become the receiver and the receiver the artist.
